Chirped pulse Raman amplification in plasma
نویسندگان
چکیده
Raman amplification in plasma has been proposed to be a promising method of amplifying short radiation pulses. Here, we investigate chirped pulse Raman amplification (CPRA) where the pump pulse is chirped and leads to spatiotemporal distributed gain, which exhibits superradiant scaling in the linear regime, usually associated with the nonlinear pump depletion and Compton amplification regimes. CPRA has the potential to serve as a high-efficiency highfidelity amplifier/compressor stage.

Chirped pulse Raman amplification in warm plasma: towards controlling saturation
Stimulated Raman backscattering in plasma is potentially an efficient method of amplifying laser pulses to reach exawatt powers because plasma is fully broken down and withstands extremely high electric fields. Plasma also has unique nonlinear optical properties that allow simultaneous compression of optical pulses to ultra-short durations. However, current measured efficiencies are limited to ...
متن کاملChirped pulse amplification in single mode Tm:fiber using a chirped Bragg grating
We report femtosecond pulse generation and chirped pulse amplification in Tm:fiber. A mode-locked oscillator operating in the soliton regime produced 800 fs pulses with 5 nm spectral bandwidth, at 40 pJ pulse energy. This oscillator seeded a pre-amplifier that utilizes a Raman soliton self-frequency shift to produce wavelength tunable pulses with 3 nJ energy, reduced pulse duration of 150 fs, a...
متن کاملChirped-pulse Raman amplification for two-color, high-intensity laser experiments
We report generation of millijoule-level Stokes (873, 961 nm) and anti-Stokes (738, 685, 639 nm) sidebands of 800 nm terawatt pulses by inserting a multistage Ba NO3 2 Raman shifter-amplifier into a conventional Ti:sapphire chirped-pulse amplification system. The Raman subsystem requires no additional pump lasers and does not compromise the energy, duration, or beam quality of the main 800 nm p...
متن کاملRaman forward scattering of high-intensity chirped laser pulses
Raman forward scattering of a high-intensity, short-duration, frequency-chirped laser pulse propagating in an underdense plasma is examined. The growth of the direct forward scattered light is calculated for a laser pulse with a linear frequency chirp in various spatiotemporal regimes. This includes a previously undescribed regime of strongly-coupled four-wave nonresonant interaction, which is ...
متن کاملRaman Amplification with a Flying Focus.
We propose a new laser amplifier scheme utilizing stimulated Raman scattering in plasma in conjunction with a "flying focus"-a chromatic focusing system combined with a chirped pump beam that provides spatiotemporal control over the pump's focal spot. Pump intensity isosurfaces are made to propagate at v=-c so as to be in sync with the injected counterpropagating seed pulse. By setting the pump...
